After a three and a half week “vacation” (i.e. trip to see my family/friends in Illinois) my Etsy shop is now back in business. I put the store in vacation mode so that I could focus on getting a few projects knocked out. But, now it’s time for me to get back into business mode. We are planning to start the IVF treatment at the end of February so all sales will continue to go into our IVF savings.
In the next few days I will be adding some new key fob wristlets and tampon pouches to my store. These two products have been my best sellers for adults and teenagers. Once I get a few Valentine’s projects done for SimplyNotable.com, I will work on getting more matching key fob and pouch sets finished in January. They are both nice products to have for your purse. All I need is a sunny day so I can take pictures!
Before we left for vacation, I set up a new AuntieEmsCrafts2 Etsy shop that will be used for my fabrics and craft supplies. Etsy only allows you to have 10 sections in your shop. Since I love to sew a lot of different things, having a second shop will open up sections for me to better sort out my handmade items. Additionally, in the other store, I will be able to add sections for different craft supplies, and possibly other fabric manufacturers. I would really love to start selling Moda fabrics in 2015, but that depends on how many babies we end up with after IVF, haha! Cross your fingers for me for just one! I probably need to finish up some other quilt projects before adding too much more to my fabric stash 😀
I will continue to transfer the fabrics, books, and patterns over to the new store. Please give it a look when you get a chance!
Here are my resolutions for 2015.
1) Do a better job of maintaining my sewing machine (cleaning the lint out of it and having it serviced).
2) Sew more for myself. I’m always working on projects for customers or for blog posts. I think “maybe I will get to it next year”. The truth is, if I don’t make time to sew for myself, it won’t happen. At least once a month, I want to make myself something nice.
3) Keep up with a clean-ish craft room. A cluttered space keeps me from feeling inspired to craft. After buying my son a new toy storage system last month, I was able to re-purpose his Expedite shelf into more fabric storage and his Alex drawer into Work-In-Progess project storage. No more piles of projects on top of my desk!
4) Spend more time outdoors. Between my 7 year old son and my year old black lab, there is a lot of energy cooped up in the house. I will make an effort to help us enjoy the outdoors more and stay inside less.
I’m excited to see what 2015 holds in store for me and my family. I hope that you have had a good start so far too!
